Terms of service

The terms for using the Turrot app, Turrot Premium, turrot.com and our text messages, from Painted Bear Enterprises LLC. Effective October 25, 2026.

The short version

Turrot is free to download and drive with. Premium is an optional subscription you buy and cancel through the App Store or Google Play.

Turrot measures your drive from your phone's GPS. Its gait readings are a careful estimate, not a vet, a judge or a timing system.

The safety features help you reach someone you choose. They do not contact emergency services, and they need your phone, its battery and a signal to work. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number first.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Painted Bear Enterprises LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as Turrot, 9525 60th Way N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782 ("we", "us"). They cover the Turrot app, Turrot Premium, turrot.com, and our emails and text messages (together, "Turrot"). By downloading or using Turrot you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle information and is part of these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Turrot.

2. Who can use Turrot

You must be at least 13 years old to use Turrot. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and is responsible for your use, including any purchase.

3. Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Turrot app on phones you own or control, for keeping records of your own driving and the horses and carriages you drive, including for your own barn, training or lessons. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app; take it apart or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows that despite this limit; remove our notices or the map credits; use Turrot to break the law or to track someone without their knowledge; or interfere with how Turrot or its map service works. The app is licensed to you, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights not given to you here.

4. Free and Premium

The free version records unlimited drives with GPS and live gait detection and includes the safety features. Turrot Premium adds more horses and carriages, larger hitches, your full drive history, voice updates, goals and conditioning, drive photos, GPX export and Year in Review. The current list of what each plan includes is shown in the app and on turrot.com. We may improve, add or change features over time. If we remove a Premium feature you are paying for, you can cancel and ask the store for a refund under its policy.

5. Subscriptions, trials and billing

Who bills you. Premium is sold only as an in-app subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store charges your store account, and its own terms of sale apply alongside these terms.

Plans. Monthly at $7.99 a month, or yearly at $69.99 a year, in US dollars. The stores show the price in your local currency, which may differ and may include tax. The price in the app at the time you buy is the price you pay.

Free trial. The monthly plan may start with a 7 day free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged the monthly price.

Founding member price. When you subscribe to the yearly plan before January 1, 2027, your first year is $49.99. It then renews at $69.99 a year. This is an introductory offer, so the store decides who is eligible: generally it is for people who have not already had an introductory offer or free trial for Turrot Premium.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year, and the store charges your account within the 24 hours before the period ends, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before then.

Cancelling. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. When you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not give partial refunds for the rest of a period.

Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, and we cannot issue them ourselves. Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play: request it from your Google Play order history. Nothing in these terms limits a refund right the law gives you.

Price changes. If we change a subscription price, the store will tell you in advance and, where its rules or the law require, ask you to agree before you are charged the new price.

When Premium ends. Your drives, horses and carriages stay on your phone. Drives older than 30 days stay saved but locked until Premium is active again. Horses and carriages you already added stay, but you cannot add more than the free plan allows or start a drive with a team of three or more.

6. Safety features

Turrot's safety check-in, return-time alerts and SOS button help you reach a contact you choose. Please understand their limits before you rely on them:

  • Turrot does not contact emergency services, and it cannot send a text or make a call by itself. It writes the message or opens the call, and you tap Send or Call.
  • Alerts, texts and calls depend on your phone being on, charged and with you, on notifications being allowed, on location being available, and on a mobile signal. Any of these can fail.
  • Your contact may not see your message, and may not be able to help. Make sure they know how you will use Turrot.
  • In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number first.

Turrot is not a safety device and does not replace safe driving practice, suitable equipment, a groom or navigator, or telling someone your route.

7. Gait readings, measurements and maps

Turrot works out speed, distance and gait from your phone's GPS, sized to the height and breed you enter. GPS is less accurate under trees, near buildings and indoors, and gait readings are estimates that can be wrong. Turrot is a training and record-keeping tool. It is not veterinary, farrier or medical advice, it is not a certified timing or measuring device, and unless an organizer has agreed in advance it is not an official result for any show, trial or competition. Workload warnings in the conditioning log are prompts to watch your horse, not a diagnosis. Ask your vet or trainer about your horse's health and fitness.

Maps are provided by Mapbox using OpenStreetMap and other data. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and they are not a guide to which roads, trails or land you may legally or safely drive on. You are responsible for where you drive and for following local laws and landowners' rules.

8. Driving with your phone

Set up your drive before you put to. Do not handle your phone while you are driving a horse. Keep both hands on the reins and your attention on your horse, your passengers and the people around you. You are responsible for driving safely.

9. Your records

The drives, horses, photos and other records you create are yours. They are stored on your phone, not by us, so we cannot recover them if your phone is lost, broken or reset. Keep your phone's backup on and save Turrot backup files to keep your records safe. Anything you share or export goes where you send it, and you are responsible for what you share, including photos of other people or their horses.

10. turrot.com and the chat assistant

Use turrot.com and its forms honestly and only for their purpose. Do not try to break, overload or misuse the site. The chat assistant on turrot.com uses artificial intelligence to answer from our help content. Its answers can be wrong or incomplete, and they are not advice. Check anything important with us at [email protected].

11. Beta testing

If you test a version of Turrot before it is released, it may have bugs, may lose data, and may change or stop working. Keep separate records of anything important while you test. Feedback you send may be used to improve Turrot, as in section 13.

12. Text messages

Program name. Turrot, run by Painted Bear Enterprises LLC, 9525 60th Way N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.

What we send. If you tick the text message box on a form on turrot.com, we send Turrot launch news, driving tips and offers. If you tick the order text box when you buy from us, we send updates about your order and its shipping. If you book a call with us, we may send one reminder before it.

How often. Marketing texts are up to 4 a month. Order and appointment texts depend on what you order or book.

Cost. Message and data rates may apply.

Stopping and help. Reply STOP to any message to stop. You will get one text confirming it and no more after that. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].

Consent. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of buying anything.

Age. Text messages are only for people 18 and over. By ticking a text message box, you confirm you are 18 or older.

Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy. We do not sell or share your mobile number or your text consent with anyone for their marketing. Read our privacy policy.

The safety texts you send from the app are different: they go from your own phone and number to your contact, are not part of this program, and your carrier's normal rates apply.

13. Our rights and your feedback

Turrot, the Turrot name and logo, the app, its design, gait method and content, and turrot.com belong to Painted Bear Enterprises LLC or its licensors. Map data belongs to Mapbox, OpenStreetMap contributors and their licensors. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Turrot without owing you anything, and we will not publish your name with them without asking.

14. If you downloaded Turrot from the Apple App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's usage rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where these terms do not cover something.

15. If you downloaded Turrot from Google Play

Your use of Google Play, including purchases, is also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not responsible for the app or these terms.

16. Disclaimers

We work hard to make Turrot accurate and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that Turrot will be uninterrupted, error free or accurate, or that it will meet your needs, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow these disclaimers, so they may not apply to you.

17. Limit of our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost records, lost profits, or injury to people or animals arising from driving, horse care or reliance on Turrot's readings, maps or safety features. Our total liability for any claim about Turrot is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Turrot in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud, and they do not affect your rights as a consumer where you live.

18. Ending these terms

You can stop using Turrot at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription in your store settings. We may suspend or end your use of Turrot if you seriously break these terms. Sections 7, 9, 13 and 16 to 20 continue after these terms end.

19. Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with Turrot, please email [email protected] first and give us 30 days to try to fix it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and of the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any claim that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Pinellas County, Florida, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an eligible claim in small claims court. If you live in the UK, the EU or another country whose law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under your local consumer laws, you keep that right.

20. General

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to a successor if Turrot or Painted Bear Enterprises LLC is sold or merged. These terms, with the privacy policy and any store terms that apply, are the whole agreement between you and us about Turrot.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Turrot changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Turrot after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. Changes do not apply to a dispute that began before the change.
