What the Turrot app and turrot.com collect, where it is kept, and the choices you have. Effective October 25, 2026.
Turrot uses your phone's precise location while you use the app and while a drive is recording, including with the screen locked. That is how it maps the drive and reads the gait.
Your drives, horses, carriages and settings are stored on your phone. There is no Turrot account, and we do not receive your drives or your location.
The app shows maps from Mapbox, so Mapbox receives the map area you are looking at. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking in the app, and we never sell your information.
If you join our email or text list, use our website chat, or write to support, we keep what you send us so we can answer you.
Turrot is a trade name of Painted Bear Enterprises LLC, a Florida limited liability company, 9525 60th Way N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782. "We", "us" and "our" in this policy mean Painted Bear Enterprises LLC. This policy covers the Turrot app for iPhone and Android, turrot.com, and our Turrot emails and text messages. Questions: [email protected] or (727) 353-8538.
Everything you enter or record in Turrot is saved in the app's own storage on your phone. We do not run a server for it and we cannot see it. That includes:
Location. Turrot asks for location "While Using the App" with Precise Location on. It uses location to show where you are on the map, and during a drive to record your route, speed, distance and gaits, including while the screen is locked. On Android a notification shows whenever a drive is recording. Turrot does not track your location when no drive is running and the app is closed. You can change or remove location access at any time in your phone's settings, but Turrot cannot record a drive without it.
Camera and photos. Only when you choose to add a photo of a horse, a drive or yourself, or to save a drive picture to your photo library. The app keeps its own copy of photos you add; your originals are not changed.
Notifications. Return-time safety alerts and the recording notice are scheduled on the phone itself. We do not send push notifications from a server.
Voice. Spoken gait updates are made by your phone's own speech engine. Turrot does not use the microphone.
Maps from Mapbox. To draw the map behind your route, the app downloads map images from Mapbox, Inc. Each request tells Mapbox which area of the map is being shown, at what zoom, and comes from your phone's internet address, along with basic app and device information. Your recorded route, gaits and horse records are not sent. Mapbox handles this under its own privacy policy at mapbox.com/legal/privacy. Map images are kept on the phone for a while so a map you have seen still shows without a signal.
Safety texts and calls. When you choose to let your contact know you are out, back, or need help, Turrot writes the message, including a map link to your location, and opens your phone's own Messages or phone app. Nothing is sent until you tap Send or Call, and it goes from your phone through your mobile carrier. We do not see the message.
Sharing and exports. When you share a drive picture, export a GPX file, or save a backup file, the file goes only where you send it through your phone's share menu. The privacy zone you choose hides the route near your start and finish in shared pictures and GPX files. Anyone you share with can see what you send them.
Apple and Google. You download Turrot from the App Store or Google Play, and they handle any subscription purchase. They tell the app whether your subscription is active. We never receive your card or payment details. If your phone backs up to iCloud or Google, your Turrot data is included in that backup under Apple's or Google's terms. If you have chosen in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us crash reports that do not identify you.
Links. When you tap a link in the app, such as our support page or the map credits, it opens in your browser and that website's own privacy policy applies.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking tools, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Turrot Premium is sold as a subscription through the App Store or Google Play. The store processes the payment, renewals, cancellations and refunds under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive sales reports from the stores that do not include your name, address or payment details.
What we collect. When you fill in a form on turrot.com, such as the launch list, the hitch chart, the beta test, clubs, preferences or support, we keep what you enter. Depending on the form that can include your name, email address, mobile number, phone model and system version, your horse's breed and height, your hitch, your club and role, and any message or screenshots you send. We also keep the date and wording of any email or text consent you give.
Website chat. turrot.com has a chat assistant that answers questions using artificial intelligence and our published help content. It says so when the chat opens. What you type is kept with the conversation so a person can follow up, and it is processed by our website platform's AI service to write the reply. Do not share sensitive personal information in the chat.
Cookies and similar storage. Our website platform sets a cookie and uses your browser's storage to keep the site working, remember what you typed into a form or chat, and record which pages you visited and how you arrived (for example from an email link). If you then submit a form, that visit history is linked to your contact record. We use privacy-friendly website statistics that do not use cookies. Fonts on the website load from Google Fonts. We do not use advertising cookies or pixels.
How we use it. Only to send the emails and texts you asked for, to answer support and chat questions, to run the beta test, to keep a record of your consent, and to understand which pages help drivers. We do not use it for anything else.
Text messages. We do not sell, rent or share mobile numbers or text message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the service providers that deliver our messages for us. Reply STOP to any text to stop, or HELP for help. The text message terms are on our terms page.
Beta testers. If you test Turrot before launch through Apple TestFlight or Google Play testing, Apple or Google shares with us the email address you were invited with, the device and system version, any feedback and screenshots you send, and crash reports from the test version.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with:
On your phone. App data stays until you delete it. A drive you delete waits 30 days in Recently deleted, where you can bring it back, and is then erased. Deleting the app erases everything Turrot stored on that phone, except copies in your phone's backup or files you exported.
With us. We keep your contact record and consent history while you are on our list and for up to two years after you last hear from us or contact us, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. We keep consent and opt-out records longer where the law requires proof of them. Support messages are kept for up to two years.
You control the app data on your phone: you can view, change, export or delete it in the app at any time. See Delete your data for the steps.
For the information we hold, such as your email list record, you can ask us to tell you what we have, correct it, give you a copy, or delete it. Email [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days, and we may need to confirm it is you before acting. You can unsubscribe from emails with the link in any email, stop texts by replying STOP, or change your choices at turrot.com/preferences. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
California and other US states. Residents of states with privacy laws have the rights above. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer things about you.
UK, EU and Switzerland. We use your information to provide what you ask for (the app's features, emails and support), on the basis of your consent (email and text marketing, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving Turrot. You can also object to processing or ask us to restrict it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. We are based in the United States, so information you send us is handled there, with safeguards our providers offer for international transfers.
Turrot is made for carriage drivers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
App data is protected by your phone's own security, including its passcode and encryption, so keep your phone locked and backed up. For the information we hold, we use reputable providers and limit who can see it. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, but we work to protect what you trust us with.
If we change how Turrot handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If a change is significant, for example if Turrot ever adds accounts or sends drives to a server, we will tell you in the app or by email first.
